Dear Mr. Horswall

Thanks for contacting our company. We would be very pleased to present you our products.

Could you please send us some more details about your company? What are the exact dimensions of your warehouse and production plant in Oxlard? This information is important in order to suggest you the best system adapted to your needs. The 500T Series would be the preferred system for 1000square meter, but for a larger plant I would suggest the 600T or 700T series.

At the second week of May we will be available to meet you, so please let us know the exact date of your convenience.

N.B Please find attached our new products prospectus.

Homework:
Choose a text (technical) from one of the documents, manuals, specs etc that you work with (about 100 words) - make a summary and put it on the blog. Bring the text for the class to see.

Please prepare a description of your process, system, production line etc. to give as a presentation. Enna will be starting next week and then I would like 2 each week in the following order: Alex / Nili Amir / Lilach Sergei / Betty Hili / Nurit

Hi Howards,

All my technical specs are consisting of bulleted phrases. All the phrases are important. (If they weren't important, I would have deleted them..).

TEXT:

Well, I thought he was very meticulous in his presentation. One of the things he did, and he said several times throughout this briefing which lasted almost an hour, was read the report in full. It is 800 pages long, it's not bedtime reading, but he was emphatic, read the report in it entirety.
I think they've done everything they could possibly do without ... the key witnesses, unfortunately, are dead. But he did say that none of the passengers were belted up, the driver wasn't belted up. The driver was ... exceeded the limit of alcohol in his blood by French standards.
And the other interesting thing he said there was an appearance that he almost lost control of the car before it had connected with the Fiat Uno, and that was before the Alma underpass, not in the Alma underpass.

Summary by two sentences:
A full & thoroughly investigation has been done.
The driver is responsible for the accident.

The article talks about batch Tools:
* A batch tool will not become abottelneck by waiting for full batch
* Waiting for full batch is best for batch tool for production reasons (more moves)
* The wait causes an increase in cycle time
* Waiting for full batch causes capacity loss when there are different recipes

Dear Mr.Horswall,

Thank you for you choice to try out our production.

We'll glad to invite you to join our annual conference that would take place at 3rd at May. It will be the good opportunity to hear about all existing products, about our plans to the future and request for new features which would be helpful for our clients. The detailed agenda of the conference has been published on our website www.hotgaz.org.uk.

I also could meet you day after the conference. If the date isn't suitable it would be possible to organize the small special meeting for your people at 11th at May.

Sincerely yours
John Smith

TEXT:
Writers of English for Science and Technology (EST) often simply edit for grammar and syntax, overlooking issues of coherence, topical structure, and organization--issues which are important in helping the reader to comprehend highly technical texts. Recent research in discourse analysis provides EST teachers with principles that they and their students can use in revising technical texts for coherence. Writers can build coherence by (a) locating information within the text in places where readers can find it easily, and (b) clearly indicating to the readers relative importance of given information. The following principles from research on coherence and discourse analysis have proven useful to our students as they write and revise their technical and scientific texts.

SUMMARY:
By now english technical writers edit their articles at most for gramma and syntax and don't carry about make it more clear and coherenty. The recent research about the subject suggest two primary ways for scientific text's revising - (a) location information where it could be easily found and (b) indication relative importance of given information.

Late response for last weeks assignment:

New high-k gate dielectrics =>
Hafnium-based dielectrics are the material of choice to replace SiO2.4-8 Hafnium-based dielectrics include hafnium oxide (HfO2, k≈25) for high-performance ICs such as microprocessors; and hafnium silicate/hafnium silicon oxynitride (HfSiO/HfSiON, k≈15) for low-power-consumption chips. HfO2 provides a higher k, but can be harder to integrate because it crystallizes at lower temperatures (~500°C) unless thin enough and properly capped. The addition of silicon to form HfSiO improves thermal stability at the expense of lower k. Nitridation forms HfSiON, improving thermal stability and enabling the film to remain amorphous up to source/drain (S/D) anneal temperatures of ~1050°C, slightly increasing the k value while decreasing gate leakage.

Summary:

Hafnium-based dielectrics may replace SiO2. HfO2 (k≈25) has higher k, but crystallizes at lower temperatures (~500°C). Addition of Silicon & Nitridation (HfSiO/HfSiON, k≈15) improves thermal stability at the expense of lower k but the film remains amorphous at ~1050°C.

Please read this story for next week: http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/lotry.html ...it's called 'the lottery' by Shirley Jackson. She wrote the story in just one afternoon and sent it off to the New Yorker to be published - it caused a huge reaction among the readers - of outrage, shock and anger... why do you think his happened and wht do you think of this story?

Next week Alex & Nili are presenting and the following week I would like Amir and Yumi to present.
